There are many alternatives that can be used to cool your home during the summer months. Many with a limited amount of space have been turning to smaller units to cool their home. It is a lot less expensive than installing all of the vents and ducts throughout the home. In fact, some older construction buildings lack the infrastructure to handle the installation of an HVAC unit. Until recently, getting the cool air desired inside of the home has required the use of a window unit. The new ductless air conditioning systems allows you to get the cool air you are looking for while still being able to use the window for anything you want it for.
Rotation of Air with Ductless Air Conditioning
One of the truly great things about the ductless air conditioning is the position of the vent. Window units are at waist level generally and do not offer a lot of circulation for the air inside of the room. These generally have to work overtime in order to get the cool air you are looking for inside of the room. The location of the vent for ductless systems is close to the ceiling. The cool air from the unit is able to drop to the lower parts of the room cooling the warm air as it rises. Any warm air still in the room will be used by the air conditioning unit to keep the air flowing in a circle. It efficiently cools the room so that it can use less energy. They are also far quieter than the window units so you do not even know they are running.
Built in Thermostats
Another problem in window units is that it is difficult to control the temperature in the room because you only have settings of high, medium or low for cooling. The ductless air conditioning has a built in thermostat. With thermostats built right into the unit, it is possible for you to be able to set the temperature of the room to whatever feels best to you. It will allow you to not only make sure that you are getting the temperatures you want in the room, but allows for easy adjusting. These often either come with an external control for putting on the wall or a remote to make it easier to adjust the temperature to your liking.
Installing Ductless Air Conditioning
The process of installing the ductless air conditioning is not extremely involved. This does have an external unit that corresponds with the internal unit that controls air temperature. This requires that a hole is drilled into the building in which the pipes can be run. This is generally a small hole as only the Freon tubing in and out of the home needs to be able to get in and out. The external unit needs to be on a concrete slab just like a normal unit for HVAC. The process of installation is best handled by a professional rather than doing it yourself. They will be able to waterproof the home so that nothing will alter the indoor air quality or the structural integrity of the home.
